The Vision we hold for all of our children is to see the beauty of God. A child learning how to play baseball or piano can be taught all the techniques to becoming a good player, but there will always be a limit. They will ask why and want to know the purpose and reason. But if a child sees the beauty of the sport or the instrument in the midst of learning, they will know understand what they are doing this for. Our vision is rooted in the desire for our children to encounter God so that they will be able to go into life with purpose and identity in Christ. The ministry works with parents, teachers, students & pastors as one team for one soul. United as a team, our goal is to prepare each child, each soul, with the necessary spiritual education and discipline. Our team from infant ministry and older makes sure that every child who steps into any ministry will be cared for by the whole Education team. Transforming lives from one lost sheep to God’s Masterpiece.

The ultimate purpose of the ministry is to help children and young people who have physical, behavioral, emotional, and academic difficulties to grow in faith in the church community and society. We hope to have them believe and be aware that: they are created in the likeness of God they have received the love and salvation of Christ along with their families, they can live the life of testifying the gospel of Jesus Christ through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We envision and hope for our families in this generation to rely on Jesus and live out their lives in order to raise kids who abide in Jesus, our true vine. We work hard to create a safe and fun environment for our children to feel the love of Jesus Christ. Infants may not remember who or where they are, but we do believe the Holy Spirit creates a haven for them to experience love, joy, peace and much more through us and the parents. We want not only to assist families to develop faithful lives in their homes, but also allow for parents to experience worship and community while they entrust their children to our ministry.

The First United Methodist Church in Flushing Sunday School’s vision statement is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by: Teaching the Word of God (KNOWLEDGE) Encouraging and training our children for spiritual growth (GROWTH), Demonstrating and sharing the love of Christ (CHRIST-LIKE ATTITUDE). Our mission is to guide our children and parents to know, believe, accept, and demonstrate Christ’s love.

K-5th Grade (Lil Champs for God) is part of FUMC Education Ministries, a local community of believers affiliated with the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, with a heart commitment to witness the restoration and strengthening of both the children and the family of God. Our Mission is to Embrace, Educate and Encourage Children and Families with God’s Truth and Love.

“Cultivating discipleship and community in Christ” First United Methodist Youth Ministry exists to nurture disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship, fellowship, & missions. How does one begin their journey with Christ? How can we equip disciples to be on mission with Christ? Through sharing of the gospel, and through worship and discipleship, we are praying that people have a personal faith and begin following Jesus. And as they begin following Jesus, we hope they are on mission with Jesus to share the good news and glorify Him!
